Firstco appointed for the IMCS Design for Cooling the Tube Programme Tranche 3

Firstco appointed for the IMCS Design for Cooling the Tube Programme Tranche 3

29th January 2010

Following on from our previous engagement on the Cooling the Tube Programme, Firstco have been successful in winning the Tranche 3 package of work for Morgan Professional Services, which will encompass four mid-tunnel ventilation shafts (MTVSs) on the London Underground Victoria Line. A skilled team of 6 design engineers will be providing design services up to RIBA stage F and presenting the design package for an Interim Control System (IMCS) at these four sites.

The design will be based on a central SCADA system, as laid out during the development of Tranche 2, which creates a unified architecture that is both scalable and modular to facilitate future expansion.

The proposed network presented some challenges due to low band width and cost of uptime. Firstco suggested a design that employed the use of VPN tunnels which act as a two-way monitoring system.

Firstco are delighted to be collaborating with Morgan Professional Services and continuing their work with London Underground.
