Firstco enhance the Heathrow Express Customer Experience
The newly improved Public Address system further enhances the
class-leading travel experience enjoyed by Heathrow Express customers.
The improvements also ensure that Heathrow Express meet the current
industry requirements for voice alarm systems.
Heathrow Express were experiencing issues with the sound quality of the
Public Address (PA) systems at their two original stations, Heathrow
Central and Terminal 4. The PA system provides emergency evacuation
messages as part of its voice alarm functionality, so it is critical for
the safe operation of the station.
Firstco completed a detailed diagnostic of the PA system, identified key
issues and proposed best value solutions. These solutions were then
implemented by Firstco's engineers resulting in:
- Upgrade of the microphones.
- Installation of feedback destroyers.
- Installation of pre-amplifiers.
- Re-setup of the volume levels across the stations using data analysis
from a background noise-level survey.
- Assessment and revision of the maintenance regime to ensure continued
compliance with regulations and long-term stability of the system.
