Heathrow Express Frame Grabber Project

Heathrow Express employed Firstco to upgrade the Tunnel Control System in 2002. As part of this project the CCTV system was upgraded from video tape to a digital solution.

In an effort to improve security, the client requested integration between video and alarmed events. The Tunnel Control System monitors alarms via a distributed network of Programmable Logic Controllers. The RSView32 SCADA system reports alarms to the operator.

Specific alarms launch a window showing the paused video image at the time of the alarm. This allows the operator to view the reason for the alarm and act accordingly.

The solution was successfully delivered with the expert assistance of the Digital Video Recorder supplier, Dedicated Micros.

This integrated solution further improves the safety of staff, customers and the reliability to deliver a first class service using the Heathrow Express.
