Heathrow Express Train Information Displays
Heathrow Express Train Information Displays
The project comprised over 20 LED-type 3-line displays (primarily located on the platforms), multiple-line display boards and "next train" displays. The displays are controlled by a controller which contains the current timetable. The controller also receives live train position information from Network Rail's signalling system at Slough and this is used to present overviews of train position and "time of arrival" notices on the platforms. Manual operator override is also provided so that control room staff can send special messages in the event of disrupted running.
The displays are also linked to the public address system so that visual and audible announcements are made automatically.
