As part of an ongoing capital investment strategy, BAA undertook a major development project, the North Terminal Landside Redevelopment (NTLR).
Works were split into four sub projects:
This project was a significant investment for Gatwick Airport as it was an addition to ongoing capital works, in the middle of a divestment program to separate the airport from BAA and enable the sale and handover to new owners Global Infrastructure Partners (GIP).
Firstco were engaged for the Specialist Systems Scheme Design, working alongside architects Capita Symonds, structural engi¬neers WSP and mechanical engineers Hoare Lea.
This included delivering the following user requirements:
Airport Operational Systems:
(* Common User Terminal Equipment – Desk equipment used by airlines & handling agents for the check in of passengers). (** Common Use Self Service – Kiosks used by passengers for self-service check in).
With the support from Firstco, Gatwick Airport successfully implemented all four stages of the North Terminal redevelopment, without any disruption to usual business.
